What Is Icon Exchange?

Icon Exchange is dedicated to the careful stewardship of Orthodox icons that can no longer remain with their current keepers.We receive donated icons, document their history and condition, and place them with individuals and families who will receive them with reverence and care.Our aim is simple: ensure sacred images continue to be venerated rather than neglected, discarded, or forgotten.

Why It Matters

Orthodox icons are not decorative objects. They are sacred images—prayed before, kissed, carried in procession, and handed down across generations.Yet circumstances change. Families relocate. Parishes close. Estates are settled. Heirlooms lose their immediate home.Icon Exchange exists to provide a faithful path forward—one that preserves both the material image and, where possible, the memory attached to it.

If you have an Orthodox icon you are no longer able to keep, please email us directly and include:• A clear photograph of the icon
• Approximate dimensions
• Any known history, origin, or inscription
• Your locationWe will follow up with next steps, including shipping or local coordination where possible.If you want to donate but cannot afford to ship your icon, please share your circumstance and we will try to accommodate.We review each submission individually and cannot guarantee acceptance, but all inquiries are treated with care.

Our Process

1. The icon is received and inspected.
2. It is photographed and documented.
3. Known details and provenance are recorded.
4. It is made available for placement.
5. The icon is entrusted to a new steward who will receive it with reverence.We approach this work deliberately and with respect for the sacred character of the images entrusted to us.
